PROPHECIES
Iran taunts Israel, US
Monday, August 23, 2010 Israel Today Staff

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday taunted both
Israel and the US in an interview with Al Jazeera, insisting that
neither nation had the stomach for a military showdown with the
Islamic Republic.

"Israel doesn't have the courage to do it," said Ahmadinejad when
asked about the possibility that Israel would strike Iran's nuclear
facilities. "Israel is too weak to face up to Iran militarily." The Iranian
leader said the US had failed to beat even a small insurgency in Iraq,
so was also afraid of starting a war with Iran.

Ahmadinejad was bolstered by the weekend activation of the
Bushehr nuclear reactor in southern Iran, and the inauguration of
Iran's new long-range bomber aircraft, which he called an
"ambassador of death."  Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
long warned that without a viable threat of force, the international
sanctions against Iran would never succeed in convincing
Ahmadinejad and his regime to back down.

Secret US-Russian sanctions vs Bushehr
deal tied Israel's hands
DEBKAfile Exclusive Analysis
August 21, 2010

The extraordinary meekness with which the US and Israel greeted
Russia's start-up of Iran's first nuclear reactor is accounted for,
DEBKAfile reports, by a secret Washington-Moscow deal whereby
Russia voted with the US for UN sanctions against Iran in return for
which Washington and Jerusalem tacitly assented to the activation of
the Iranian reactor.  Will Israel's acquiescence extend to deals with
the Palestinians?

Arab sources: A major military surprise is
close. Galant scandal a smokescreen
DEBKAfile Special Report
August 20, 2010

IRGC forces on war alert.
War preparations are reported by DEBKAfile in Tehran and
Damascus. In the US, a flock of pundits and commentators
speculate aloud about a possible attack on Iran, underlining the
danger of Iran's first nuclear reactor going on stream at Bushehr
Saturday, Aug. 21. This event seems to have gone unnoticed in
Israel, raising Arab suspicions that the Galant Affair is a
smokescreen. But US officials say they have persuaded Israel the
Iranian nuclear threat is a year away.

US ends Iraq war, (but) leaves two civil
conflicts on the boil
DEBKAfile Exclusive Analysis
August 19, 2010, 11:36 AM

The crossing of the US 4th Stryker Brigade and 2nd Infantry Division
from Iraq into Kuwait Thursday morning, Aug. 19, ended America's
combat involvement in the seven and-a-half year Iraq war. But for
Iraq, it is just beginning: At least two civil conflicts are at boiling point
- Sunni-Shiite strife and hostilities between the two Muslim factions
and the Kurds of the North. And Iran's followers stand ready to seize
Iraq's oil-rich South potentially sparking yet another world
conflagration.

Unfolding revelations rock top IDF brass,
hang over defense minister
August 18, 2010, 11:37 AM

Chief of Staff and Defense Minister part ways
The "Galant document" expose started out last month as a shabby
ruse trumped up, or forged, to sway defense minister Ehud Barak in
his choice of the next chief of staff. It has ballooned into a major
scandal sweeping up Israel's top generals and hanging over the
defense minister's head.  Tuesday, Aug. 17, Chief of staff Lt. Gen.
Gaby Ashkenazi told police investigators he had received the
document weeks ago and not reported it.

Air crash near Bushehr, drones slam into
reactor dome

TOR-M1 missile guards Bushehr.
Two mysterious incidents are reported by DEBKAfile in the run-up to
the fueling-up of Iran's first nuclear reactor Saturday, Aug. 21.
Tuesday, an Iranian F4 Phantom fighter jet was claimed by Tehran to
have crashed 6 kilometers north of the Bushehr nuclear reactor in
southern Iran. DEBKAfile's military sources report it was shot down
by Russian-made TOR-M1 air-missile defense batteries guarding
the reactor. Aug.1, three unidentified drones slammed into its dome
killing five people.

Putin pushes ahead with fueling up Iran's
reactor Saturday
August 16, 2010, 9:21 PM

Iran's first reactor goes on stream at Bushehr.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin decided it was safe to go
ahead and load Iran's first nuclear reactor with fuel on Aug. 21 -
effectively making it active - after the US and Israel did not seem
troubled by the prospect of the reactor going on stream, DEBKAfile
reports. Either the two governments had been caught flatfooted, he
figured, or come to terms with Iran's capacity to produce
weapons-grade plutonium.  Iran is to build 10 more uranium
enrichment plants in fortified mountain caves.

Russian S-300s in Abkhazia block possible
Israeli air route to Iran
August 12, 2010, 10:12 PM (GMT+02:00)

Russian S-300 interceptors now in Abkhazia
US and Israeli military sources told DEBKAfile Thursday, Aug. 12,
that a threat from Georgia was not the reason why Russian posted
advanced S-300 interceptor batteries Russia in Abkhazia and air
defense weapons in South Ossetia -as Moscow officially
maintained, but rather possible moves by the US and/or Israel
against Iran and its nuclear facilities. By deploying these interceptors
in the Black Sea republics, Moscow has put paid to possible Israeli
plans to use this northern route for attacking Iran.

Iran digs "mass graves for US soldiers"
To meet increasingly defiant Iranian threats to US regional military
forces, Washington has detached the USS Truman carrier from
support duty for Afghanistan in the Arabian Sea and reassigned it to
Dubai opposite the Gulf of Oman and the Straits of Hormuz with
thousands of marines aboard.  IRGC Navy chief announced the
introduction of twelve new torpedo and missile cruisers and
speedboats equipped for striking air carriers. Another IRGC
commander said mass graves had been dug for American troops.

As Russian-Iranian-Turkish Threat Grows,
Israel Discovers 1.5 Billion Barrels of Oil:
Echoes of Bible prophecy
By Joel C. Rosenberg
(Washington, D.C., August 18, 2010) -- Here's the latest from the
epicenter:

Deuteronomy says "oil" and "hidden treasures" will be
found in Israel in the last days of history. The prophecies
of Ezekiel 38 & 39 indicate Israel will be significantly
prosperous in the last days, before a Russian-Iranian-
Turkish alliance forms against her and seeks to destroy
her.

Today's headline from Ynet News: "1.5 BILLION BARRELS
OF OIL DISCOVERED NEAR ROSH HA'AYIN." Full details
on the weblog.

Another Ynet headline today: "ISRAEL'S ECONOMY
CHARGES AHEAD; 4.7% growth in Q2: Israel's economic
growth hits 4.7% in second quarter of 2010, leaving behind
Euro bloc at 4.1%." Key point: Israel now has the fastest
growing economy in the West.

On Saturday, Russia begins fueling Iran's Bushehr nuclear
reactor. Former Amb. John Bolton says Israel has just a
few days to bomb the reactor before it goes hot. I
personally don't think they will, but let's be praying for the
Lord to give PM Netanyahu and his cabinet great wisdom
to do the right thing at the right time.

Regardless of what happens, I would like you to seriously
pray about coming with us on The Joshua Fund prayer &
vision trip to Israel next May, and attend the 2011
Epicenter Conference in Jerusalem. Many people might
think that's crazy in light of the growing regional tensions,
but I believe we as followers of Jesus Christ should be
praying for, going to, and standing with Israel because of
the growing tensions. As the rest of the world turns away
from the Jewish State, let us move closer to our Israeli and
Palestinian friends with the courage and compassion the
Lord gives us.

Fatah Turncoats in Gaza Set Up Military
Wing Backing Hamas
Source:  Support Israel
August 23, 2010

Former Fatah leaders in Gaza who backed Hamas in the
2007 militia war now have set up a “military” wing,
according to the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism
Information Center. Its researchers believe that “its military
activity is supported and directed by Hamas.”

They added, “It is our assessment that, once its policy of
terrorist attacks allows it, Hamas may employ military
operatives belonging to the Al-Ahrar network as
‘subcontractors for terrorist attack,’ as it formerly did with
operatives of other similar terrorist networks.”

The group, which calls itself Al-Ahrar, Arabic for “The
Free,” set Israeli and American flags on fire while
proclaiming the new military wing at a ceremony featuring
the raising of the Turkish flag and a video call of
congratulations from a representative of the Turkish IHH
organization. The same group’s terror activists assaulted
Israel Navy commandos in a May 31 flotilla clash.

The Al-Ahrar group does not recognize Mahmoud Abbas
as leader of the Palestinian Authority. At a separate
ceremony recently, Al-Ahrar leader Khaled Abu Hilal said
that its military wing was “ready to join the ranks of
resistance and fight against the occupation.”

Hizbullah Hides Behind Handicapped
Children

The IDF has taken the unusual step of revealing to the
press the precise location of Hizbullah hideouts in southern
Lebanon. A Northern Command officer showed an
Associated Press reporter the Hizbullah outposts visible
from the Lebanon border.

Many outposts are hidden in civilian areas - but one
actually takes shelter in a home for mentally handicapped
children in the southern Lebanon village of Aita al-Shaab.
IDF officials also pointed out weapons warehouses, some
of which are located in civilian homes.

Hizbullah limits access to southern Lebanon, and often
follows those journalists who are allowed into the area to
ensure that they do not reveal sensitive information. United
Nations troops tasked with patrolling the area say they are
unable to confirm or deny the IDF's accusations, as they
are not permitted to search private property. However,
explosions in southern Lebanon in 2009 indicate that
Hizbullah has in fact continued storing weapons and
rockets in civilian villages.

Israel's willingness to share intelligence about Hizbullah
activity is seen as a preemptive measure in case of conflict
with Hizbullah or Lebanon. Israel was widely condemned for
Lebanese civilian deaths during the Second Lebanon War
in 2006. By warning in advance that Hizbullah is using
civilians as shields, Israeli officials are apparently hoping to
prove that the terrorist group is to blame for any future
civilian deaths.

The sharing of intelligence may also serve as a warning to
Hizbullah that Israel knows the locations of its weapons
caches and battle stations, and is prepared to take them
out quickly in case of an open war.

The IDF's open approach follows an exchange of fire
between Israeli and Lebanese soldiers on the northern
border two weeks ago. Lebanese troops opened fire as
Israeli workers pruned a tree on the Israeli side of the
international border; they later claimed that the tree was
located on Lebanon's side of the border.  IDF Major-
General Gadi Eisenkot concluded that the incident was “a
planned ambush” on the IDF. One Israeli soldier and four
Lebanese were killed in the clash.

IAF Strikes Gaza Weapons Factory,
Tunnels in Response to Terror

Israel Air Force fighter pilots destroyed a variety of
carefully selected terrorist targets in Gaza overnight in
retaliation for a spate of terror attacks on Jewish
communities in the western Negev, including two mortars
fired at Israel from the region earlier in the day, and two
Kassam rockets fired Monday.

Two IDF soldiers were wounded in Tuesday morning's
mortar fire while troops carried out engineering tasks along
the Gaza security fence. The Salah ad-Din Brigades
military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC)
terrorist group subsequently claimed responsibility for the
attack.  The PRC is one of three groups whose operatives
carried out the June 25, 2006 kidnapping of IDF soldier
Gilad Shalit, who is still being held captive by the ruling
Hamas terrorist organization.

In response to the attack, the IAF carried out air strikes on
a weapons factory in central Gaza, two smuggler tunnels,
and a terrorist tunnel in the southern part of the region.
On Monday, Gaza terrorists launched a Kassam rocket
barrage that struck Jewish communities in the Eshkol
Regional Council district.

“The IDF remains committed to protecting the citizens of
Israel and will continue to act against terror,” said the IDF
Spokesman in a statement. “The IDF holds Hamas solely
responsible for terror emanating from the Gaza Strip.”

More than 115 rockets and mortars have been fired at
Israel from Gaza since January. Over 420 rockets were
launched from the region at the Jewish State since the end
of Israel's three-week counter-terrorist war, in the winter of
2008-2009, Operation Cast Lead.

Quartet: Direct Negotiations Without
Building Freeze

The Quartet is expected to publish on Friday a statement
calling on Israel and the Palestinian Authority to begin
direct peace negotiations. Diplomatic sources in the US
said that the statement by the Quartet (which is comprised
of representatives from the United States, the European
Union, Russia and the United Nations) will not mention the
issue of the building freeze in east Jerusalem, Judea, and
Samaria. The statement will say that the peace talks
should end within one year.

The sources added that the statement will call for direct
and two-sided negotiations that will bring an “end to the
occupation” and result in a Palestinian state living
peacefully alongside Israel. The statement will also call on
Arab countries to support the negotiations in order to
ensure their success.

Although the statement does not mention the building
freeze, it says that the Quartet is “fully committed to its
previous statements,” in which Israel was called to
completely halt building.  State Department spokesman P.
J. Crowley said on Thursday: "We think we are very, very
close to a decision by the parties to enter into direct
negotiations. We think we're well positioned to get there."

Last month, the Arab League published a letter backing
direct talks with Israel. The letter repeated the
preconditions set by Abbas: a return to 1967 borders, an
end to settlements, and the return of refugees.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and
members of his close inner cabinet decided to reject any
preconditions as a basis for negotiations with the
Palestinian Authority. A government source was quoted as
saying: “The Quartet statement is a fig leaf. We would
accept only an American statement that would not include
preconditions.”

Palestinians indicted for selling Jewish products
The Palestinian Authority of "moderate" leaders Mahmoud
Abbas and Salam Fayyad on Tuesday decided to indict
four Palestinian Arabs accused of selling Jewish-made
products in their stores.  Fayyad, the PA's current prime
minister, recently enacted new laws forbidding the import,
sale or promotion of goods or services that originate in
Jewish towns and villages in Judea and Samaria (the so-
called "West Bank").

Those found guilty of violating the boycott face a
punishment of 2-5 years in prison and a $14,000 fine.
They are also likely to have their business licenses
revoked.

The Palestinian Authority is using the boycott to choke the
economy of the Jewish settlements, which constitute the
fastest growing sector of Israeli society. However, the new,
which also bans Palestinians from working in the Jewish
communities, is having a far bigger impact on the
Palestinian economy. The 7,000-10,000 Palestinians that
currently work for Israeli building contractors will soon be
out of work, and stores are being forced to stock more
expensive goods imported from neighboring Arab states.

Muslims try to turn Jerusalem cemetery
demolition into international incident

Palestinian Arab Muslims on Wednesday continued to try
to turn the demolition of a phony Muslim cemetery in
Jerusalem into an international incident by gathering and
protesting at the site.

Dozens of local Muslims turned up at the Mamila cemetery
in adjacent to downtown Jerusalem's Independence Park to
demonstrate against last week's clearing of 300 tombstone
by the municipality. The Muslims accused Israel of
"desecrating" the centuries-old cemetery where some of
the Prophet Mohammed's companions are believed to be
buried.

The demonstration was part of a clear attempt to rile up
international condemnation of Israel, in addition to making
a land grab in the center of Jerusalem, said municipality
officials. Last week, the municipality released photos and
other details conclusively proving that the 300 graves in
question had only recently been erected, and that there
were no bodies buried under them.

Officials said the Islamic Trust (Waqf) that administers both
the Mamila cemetery and the Temple Mount had requested
a special permit to bring large trucks and bulldozers to the
cemetery for maintenance work. But a reporter for Arutz 7
radio discovered that instead of cleaning up the cemetery,
the Muslims were erecting phony tombs on an adjacent
plot of land that is part of Independence Park.

The Muslims have failed to address the clear evidence that
the tombstones were fake, and instead continue to shout
about how Israel has uprooted a Muslim cemetery in hopes
that the international media will pick up their version of the
story.

The Hurva
Famous Jerusalem landmark is rebuilt for third time
Michael Schneider
April 29, 2010

Forty-three years after Israel captured Jerusalem's Old City
from Jordan during the Six Day War in 1967, the historic
Hurva Synagogue has been rebuilt!  Over the past 100
years the Hurva has served as a link between Jews of all
backgrounds: Ashkenazim and Sephardim (of Oriental
origin), secular, religious and Zionist. Reconstruction of the
synagogue was discussed for nearly 40 years until 2006,
when the Israeli government decided to rebuild the
landmark using old blueprints, sketches and maps.

Jerusalem: The Burdensome Stone
As prophesied, Jerusalem is where world's plans are
dashed to pieces
Ryan Jones

Jerusalem is increasingly becoming the make-or-break
focal point of the Middle East peace process. The nations
and the spiritual powers behind them have plans for Israel,
but so does the Lord. And just as God vowed through the
prophet Zechariah some 2,500 years ago (Zechariah
12:3), He will use Jerusalem as the burdensome,
immovable stone against which the nations and their plans
will be dashed to pieces.

“The Day that No Man Knows”
Yom Teruah “Day of Blowing” aka Feast of Trumpets
By Maria Merola
http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/27750
© Copyright Double Portion Inheritance Ministry September 2009
http://www.DoublePortionInheritance.com/

This year in 2010, (according to the Aviv Barley Calendar), the Feast
of Trumpets (called Rosh Hashanah by Rabbinic Judaism)
commences at sundown on Friday, September 10th -11th. The
Rabbinic Calendar will be celebrating this holiday at sundown
Wednesday, September 8th -9th.

Matthew 24:36-37 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not
the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noah
were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Many of us have read the famous quote of our Messiah in the
gospels when he declared that his second coming would come at a
time that “no man knows.”  But how many of us knew that he was
actually making a reference to the Feast of Trumpets? The Feast of
Trumpets was known by those in Ancient Jerusalem as “The Day
That No Man Knows.”  And why is it called this? Because it is the
feast that can only be determined by the sighting of the new moon,
and so “no man” can calculate the exact day or hour of when this
feast day will begin.

In ancient Jerusalem, two witnesses would stand on the walls of
Jerusalem and “watch” for the first sighting of the new moon. When
the Father in heaven decided to allow the new moon to appear in the
sky, then the “two witnesses” would sound the shofar (trumpet) and
all the people in the city would immediately drop what they were
doing, and they would run to the temple for the celebration of the Day
of Blowing (in Hebrew Yom Teruah). The temple doors were only
open for a short period of time, and if they failed to make it to the
temple before the doors were shut, those who were slack in running
to the temple were left out of the feast because the “doors were
shut” and once they were shut, no man could get in.

Because this feast was to begin at sundown, they had to make sure
that their oil lamps were filled so that they could find their way in the
dark towards the temple. In those days, there were no street lights,
and so they had to carry their oil lamps to help them find their way. In
Matthew 25, Yahushua (Jesus) gave us a parable of ten virgins. Only
five of the virgins were wise and had their oil lamps filled when the
bridegroom came. But the other five foolish virgins had not prepared
themselves by filling their lamps with oil. When the “Day That No
Man Knows” had arrived, the two witnesses sounded the “last
trump” and the five wise virgins were ready to go into the marriage.
But the foolish virgins had no oil in their lamps, and thus they could
not see their way around in the dark.

In 1st Thessalonians 5:4-5, the Apostle Shaul/Paul makes a
reference to this feast when he declares that we are “children of the
day….not of the darkness.”

Many of these inhabitants of Jerusalem would be working in the
fields or grinding at the mill (Matthew 24:40-42, Luke 17:34-36), and
when they heard the sound of the shofar (trumpet) they knew that
their work was finished and they had to run towards the temple
before the doors were shut.

Our Messiah made a reference to this day when “no man can work”
because the night is coming when the labor that he has called us to
do in the harvest field will be over. Now is the time to gather in the
wheat, because that day is coming when we will no longer be able
to bring in the harvest of souls.

John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day:
the night cometh, when no man can work.

In Ancient Jerusalem, leading up to the Feast of Trumpets, the
person who was alert and listening for the sound of the trumpet was
“taken” by the sound of the trumpet; this was his signal to run
towards the temple. But the person who was not alert and not
watching, would not hear the sound of the trumpet, and they would
be “left” in the field or grinding at the mill, unaware that the day had
come. Yahushua (Jesus) likened himself to the “thief in the night”
who would come at an hour “that no man knows” and for these
people who were not watching with their oil lamps filled, “sudden
destruction” would come upon them as a woman in travail and it
would be too late for them to escape God’s wrath.

1st Thessalonians 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety;
then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a
woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Yahushua illustrates that there will be two groups of people: those
who are “taken” and those who are “left.”  The timing of this event
known as the “harpazo” or “catching away” of the bride happens
“immediately after the tribulation” (Matthew 24:29). The idea of a “pre-
tribulation Rapture” is not supported in scripture, and so many
people incorrectly interpret these verses to mean that the righteous
are left behind, while the wicked are “taken.”

But a careful study of the Hebrew & Greek words for “taken” and “left”
reveals what is being spoken of in the verses below.

Matthew 24:40-41 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be
taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill;
the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Luke 17:34-36 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one
bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women
shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other
left.

Now let us look in the Greek Strong’s Concordance at the word for
“left” in the above verses.
#863 aphiemi which means: to send forth in various applications
(as follows): cry, forsaken, lay aside, leave, let (alone, be, go, have),
omit, put (send) away, remit, suffer, yield up.
You will notice that the word for “left” means to “forsake” or “put
away” as when a husband puts away his wife and divorces her!
Now, let’s look at the Hebrew and Greek words for “taken”:
#3947 laqach law-kakh' a primitive root; to take (in the widest variety
of applications):accept, bring, buy, carry away, drawn, fetch, get,
infold, many, mingle, place, receive(-ing), reserve, seize, send for,
take away, win.

This word Laqach is synonymous with the word the Latin word
“Rapturo” or the Greek word “Harpazo” which both mean “caught up,
to take, carry away, seize, take away.”

Elijah was taken away into heaven, and this prefigured the
ascension of our Messiah as well as the catching away of the saints
into heaven (1st Thessalonians 4:17).
2nd Kings 2:16 And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with
thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy
master: lest peradventure the Spirit of YHWH hath taken him up.

Yahushua was taken up to heaven just as the believers will be taken
up:

Acts 1:2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through
the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom
he had chosen.

Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld,
he was taken up and a cloud received him out of their sight.

Acts 1:11 Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven?
this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so
come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

The Greek word in the above verses for taken is alanambano which
means: to take up, receive up

The Apostle Phillip was also caught away alive as seen in scripture:

Acts 8:39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of
the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and
he went on his way rejoicing.

The Apostle Paul describes a man who was caught up to heaven:
2nd Corinthians 12:2 I knew a man in Messiah above fourteen years
ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I
cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

2nd Corinthians 12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and
heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

This is the same “caught up” that the saints will experience in what
many call the Rapture:

1st Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall
be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in
the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Revelation 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, (Yahushua) who
was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up
unto God, and to his throne.

The word in all of these above verses for “caught” in Greek in the
Strong's Concordance is:

#726 Harpazo which means: to seize, catch away, pluck, pull, take
(by force).

The word in Greek here for taken in all of the verses below is
#3880 paralambano which means: to receive near, associate with
oneself, (in a familiar or intimate act or relation); to assume an
office, to learn, receive, take (unto, with).

In the above verses YHWH will take the elect unto himself in a
familiar or intimate way to assume an office (priests, kings unto him,
bride etc.) He will take unto himself the elect or chosen.
We will either be "left" (forsaken) or "taken up" (caught up) into
heaven to meet YaHuWaH in the air. There is no other conclusion
that one can make from these two words left and taken in these
passages of scripture.

We often make reference to this term “thief in the night” from the
scriptures, but how many really know what the metaphor of the “thief
in the night” is all about? In order to understand this metaphor, we
must know historically who the thief in the night was. In ancient
Jerusalem, the High Priest in the temple (Cohen Gadol) would
make his rounds each night to make sure that the other priests were
doing their duty of keeping the fire burning on the brazen altar. The
commandment in the Torah was to never allow this fire on the altar
to go out. If a priest was on duty to watch the fire by night, he was not
allowed to fall asleep on the job, for if he did, the fire would not stay
stoked and the fire could go out and this would bring judgment on
Israel. The priests were also commanded not to have wine or strong
drink while serving in the temple. Alcohol in their blood stream
would defile their worship and cause them to become drunk, lazy
and sleepy.

Because the Cohen Gadol (High Priest) came at an hour when they
were least expecting him to show up, the priests began to nick
name him “the thief in the night.”

If the priest on duty fell asleep and was not watching the fire on the
brazen altar, the High Priest would show up and find him sleeping
on the job. The High Priest would then take some hot coals from the
altar, and scoop them up in a shovel. He would then dump some of
these hot coals on the priest’s garment who had fallen asleep. The
priest who had fallen asleep would be suddenly awakened by the
smell of hot burning coals and his garment on fire. He would
immediately strip off his clothes as fast as he could in order to
prevent from being burned. At the end of his shift, the other priests
would see him naked without his garment, and he would be
ashamed because all the other priests would know that he was
caught falling asleep on the job. Yahushua is our High Priest after
the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:17-21) and we his followers
are a royal priesthood (1st Peter 2:9). We are admonished not to be
like those priests who would fall asleep on the job. We are given a
command to watch, and keep our garments so that we will not be
ashamed when our Messiah returns.

Revelation 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that
watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they
see his shame.

The Apostle Shaul (Paul) was also making a reference to the New
Covenant Israelites when he said to them “you have no need that I
write to you about the appointed times of YaHuWaH.”  In order to
understand what Shaul/Paul was saying here, we must understand
that the Hebrew word for "times and seasons" is “moedim.”

# 4150 mow'ed mo-ade'or moled {mo-ade'}; or (feminine)
moweadah (2nd Chronicles 8:13) {mo-aw-daw'}; from 3259;
properly, an appointment, i.e. a fixed time or season; specifically, a
festival; conventionally a year; by implication, an assembly
(asconvened for a definite purpose); technically the congregation; by
extension, the place of meeting; also a signal (as appointed
beforehand):--appointed (sign, time), (place of, solemn) assembly,
congregation, (set, solemn) feast, (appointed, due) season, solemn
(-ity), synogogue, (set) time (appointed).

Why did Shaul/Paul have no need to write to them about these
things? Because the first century followers of Messiah were all
keeping the “Sabbaths” or Feast Days of YaHuWaH!
1st Thessalonians 5

1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I
write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh
as a thief in the night.

Shaul/Paul and the Thessalonians were well aware of this
metaphor concerning the High Priest and the thief in the night. They
practiced these things in the temple year after year and there was no
need to explain it to them. If they continued to keep the appointed
moedim of YaHuWaH as he had commanded them to do forever,
they would not be overtaken by surprise.

3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden
destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child;
and they shall not escape.

Paul knew that these followers of Messiah were not in darkness
because they were keeping their “oil lamps filled” and ready for the
day when it arrived. They would not be overtaken by “the day that no
man knows” without oil in their lamps. Their High Priest, Yahushua
would come not as a thief in the night for them, because they would
not be in darkness!

4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake
you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are
not of the night, nor of darkness.
As priests in the order of Melchizedek, we must not be like those
priests who would be found drinking alcohol on the job, getting
drunk and falling asleep. We are given clear warning here to “watch”
and be sober. The Greek word here for “sober” is “nepho” which
literally means “to abstain from wine.”
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be
sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are
drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate
of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by
our Master Yahushua Messiah.
For those who are walking in the light, and the truth of scripture, we
will all go through tribulation as part of the purifying process to be
made ready as a bride without spot or wrinkle. But we are not
appointed for the day of God’s wrath, for we will all be changed as
we put in incorruption.

As children of the light, we will all be honoring the Holy Feast Days
that YHWH commanded us to keep forever because they are “holy
convocations.” The Strong's Hebrew Concordance defines the word
for "convocation" as a REHEARSAL:

# 4744 miqra' mik-raw' from 7121; something called out, i.e. a public
meeting (the act, the persons, or the place); also a rehearsal:--
assembly, calling, convocation, reading.

YaHuWaH established an everlasting covenant with Israel and he
gave us a “sign” that he alone is YHWH our Elohim (God). What
exactly is this “sign” that he has given to “ALL ISRAEL” for ALL
GENERATIONS, FOREVER? The sign of his everlasting covenant
with Israel are his “Sabbaths” and Holy Feast Days. He declared that
through these “Sabbaths” we might know that he is YaHuWaH who
sanctifies us and sets us apart.

Ezekiel 20:12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign
between me and them, that they might know that I am YHWH that
sanctify them.
Ezekiel 20:20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign
between me and you, that ye may know that I am YHWH your Elohim
(God).

Leviticus 23:23-25
23 And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying,
24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in
the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of
blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
25 Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering
made by fire unto YHWH.

Here we see that YHWH is commanding us to have a memorial of
blowing trumpets and he calls it a “holy convocation” in other words,
a rehearsal. The offering that we make to him on this day is an
offering by “fire” in other words our own lives are presented to him
as a living sacrifice. We allow the fire of the Holy Spirit to purge and
purify our lives so that we will be ready for the day when he comes
for his bride. Yahushua is coming for a bride without spot or
blemish. We must be ready to be purified by suffering, trials and
tribulation in order to be ready for the “Day That No Man Knows.”
When the 1,260 day ministry of the “Two Witnesses” is finished, the
“seventh angel” will sound, and we shall all be changed in the
twinkling of an eye at the “last trump.”

Revelation 11:12-15 And they heard a great voice from heaven
saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven
in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them....And the seventh angel
sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The
kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of
his Messiah; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
Messiah Born On The Feast of Trumpets, Yom Teruah
http://www.askelm.com/star/index.asp

Yahushua (Jesus) was born on September 11th in 3 B.C. on “Yom
Teruah” A book entitled “The Star That Astonished the World” by Dr.
Ernest L. Martin shows that the planetary alignment which occurred
that year when Yahushua was born was from:

Revelation 12:

1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed
with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a
crown of twelve stars:
2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be
delivered…
5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with
a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his
throne.

On no other day except on September 11th in 3 B.C. do we see this
planetary alignment taking place. On this day and never before this
date nor ever again after, has this constellation been seen. It was
“Virgo” the virgin” or “Bethulah” (in Hebrew), and she had 12 stars
around her head (for the twelve tribes of Israel), and the moon was
under her feet. The sun was “mid- body” and so she was “clothed
with the sun” and she was giving birth to “Ariel” the Lion of the Tribe
of Judah. This happened at no other time in history except on this
date.

The Bride of Messiah will follow the same pattern as him. Just as he
was born on Yom Teruah, so the bride will be “reborn” with her new
incorruptible body as she is “caught up” to meet him in the air at the
sound of the “last trumpet.”

Why Messiah Was Not Born on The Feast of Tabernacles or Sukkot
At his baptism (on the 1st of Elul), he was not quite 30 yet as Luke's
gospel declares:

Luke 3:23 And Yahushua (Jesus) himself began to be about thirty
years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which
was the son of Heli.

The term “began to be about thirty” tells us that he was not quite 30
years old yet. His 30th birthday was fast approaching, and so we
know that he was going to turn 30 during one of these fall feasts,
either on Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur or Sukkot. But since the Tekiah
(trumpet blast on Teruah) is for the “Ushering in of the King,” it
makes more sense prophetically that YHWH was ushering in his
son, the Melek Tzadik (King of Righteousness) on Yom Teruah. He
also dwelled in the Sukkah (manger) as a new born with his parents
during the 8 days of Sukkot. The announcement of his birth was 1st
of Tishri, then on the 2nd of Tishri he was actually born and then on
the 10th of Tishri, (Yom Kippur) which was the 8th day from his birth,
he was circumcised. The “covering” of the heart is the foreskin, and
when it is removed, it is called “FACE TO FACE.” This is when the
High Priest in the temple would go behind the veil to the Holy of
Holies and sprinkle the blood of the lamb on the mercy seat once a
year on Yom Kippur. This would bring him “face to face” with YHWH
as he interceded for Israel.

The bride of Messiah will also have the “veil” removed from her eyes
and she will see him face to face (Zechariah 12:10). The foreskin
being removed from our hearts is when we are able to “see him”
face to face (the veil to our eyes, and our hearts removed). So it is
prophetically fitting that he would be circumcised on Yom Kippur.
The foreskin is like the “veil” to our hearts. We are commanded to
“circumcise the foreskin of our hearts” (Deuteronomy 10:16,
Jeremiah 4:4). Five days later is when Messiah “dwelled” in a
“tabernacle” or sukkah (manger) with his parents for 8 days.
Messiah fulfilled an intermediate fulfillment of all three Fall Feasts at
his first coming:

1.) Announcement: Yom Teruah, ushering in the King.
2.) Circumcision: Yom Kippur, removal of the veil (foreskin) called
"face to face."
3.) Dwelling with us: Feast of Tabernacles; Sukkot; Dwelt with us in
a corruptible body.

Messiah will fulfill all three Fall Feasts at his second coming:

1.) Husband Ushering in the Bride: Yom Teruah
2.) Husband removes veil from the bride's face: Yom Kippur
3.) Husband consummates the marriage with the 4th cup: Sukkot;
Dwells with bride for 1,000 years of Sabbath rest.
SHOFAR CEREMONY FOR YOM TERUAH
In the traditional Temple/Synagogue service, one hundred notes are
sounded during the Yom Teruah service.

There are two main series of shofar blasts, each consisting of a
number of sets. The shofar is blown during the Musaf (additional)
service on Yom Teruah. The first series (30 blasts) is blown before
the Musaf silent prayer (Amidah). The second series (30 blasts) is
blown during the repetition of Musaf, integrated into narratives
describing God's kingship (Malkiyot), remembrance of our
ancestor's merit (Zichronot), and hopes for the messianic era
(Shofarot). For Sephardim, they are split between the silent Musaf
and the end of the service.

A Ninth century Babylonian teacher, Saadia Gaon, taught that there
were ten reasons that the Holy One commanded us to blow the
shofar on Yom Teruah:

Just as earthly kings have horns and shofarot blown to celebrate the
anniversary of their coronation, so God wants the shofar blown on
the anniversary of the Creation - when there came to be a world that
God could rule over, as it is said in Psalms 98:6
Just as earthly kings have horns and shofarot blown to announce
their decrees - and only after this warning actually enforce the
decree - so God wants the shofar blown to announce the beginning
of the Ten Days of Return, when all are commanded to turn their
lives around.

Just as the shofar blew when God gave the Torah at Mount Sinai, so
it blows to remind us each year to do as our forbears said at Sinai:
Shemot (Exodus) 24:7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and
read it to the people. They responded, "We will do everything
Yahuwah has said; we will obey."

Just as Yehezekel (Ezekiel) compared the words of the Prophets,
calling for the people to change their ways, to a shofar - so we must
know that those who hear the shofar and do not take warning and
change their lives will be responsible for their own destruction.
Ezekiel 33:2-9

Because the shofar was blown as a war-alarm when the Temple
was destroyed, it should remind us of the destruction of the Temple
- the disaster that we brought upon ourselves - and thus should
warn us to abandon our misdeeds in order to avert disaster.
Jeremiah 4:19-20

Because God used a ram as a substitute sacrifice for Isaac, the
ram's horn should remind us how Isaac and Abraham were
prepared to give up all their hopes and dreams for God's sake.
Genesis 22

The blowing of a horn causes cities to tremble, so the shofar will
make us tremble and fear our Creator. Amos 3: 6

Since the shofar will be blown on the great day of Yahuweh.

Zephaniah 1:14-16 Daniel speaks of this judgment day in: (seated
for judgment) Daniel 7:9-14 In the above passage the coronation of
the King of kings. Revelation 20:4-6

Since the shofar will be blown when the tempest-tossed of God's
people are gathered in harmony to the Land of Israel, we should
hear the shofar to stir our longings for that day. Isaiah 27:12-13;
Matthew 24:29-31

Since the shofar will be blown when Mashiach revives the dead, we
hear the shofar in order to revive our faith in that supernatural
transformation, the final victory of life and freedom over death and
the ultimate oppressor.

Isaiah 18: 3 Also in Ezekiel 37:1-14
When the shofarot are sounded it arouses and motivates or
"awakens" all who are to be judged on this day. We try to incite all
who have sinned to plead with Yahuwah and request mercy from
Him in His judgement. Yahuwah is receptive, as he is gracious,
compassionate and forgiving, of those who return to Him with a
complete heart. If the sounding of the Shofar has its intended effect,
Yahuwah will graciously accept the repentance of all.

Principles of Shofar Blowing
The commandment is to hear the shofar blowing in order to fulfill the
mitzvah (commandment).

The shofar blower recites two blessings; the community must listen
to the blessings and respond, "Amen"; to each one. (One should not
say the usual "Baruch hu uvaruch sh'mo"; to these blessings.)
One should stand during the recitation of the blessings and for all of
the shofar blasts. It is forbidden to speak from the beginning of the
first blessing until after the final shofar blast (at the end of Mussaf).
Before the shofar is sounded, the Baal Tokea (the shofar blower)
prepares himself for his task of blowing the shofar for the
congregation and says "I am prepared to fulfill God's commandment
to blow the shofar, as it is prescribed in the Torah, 'a day of blowing
unto you.'"

The Baal Tokea then recites the following blessing: Baruch atah
Yahuwah Eloheinu melech ha-olam, asher kidishanu bemitzvotav
vetzvivanu leshemoa kol shofar.

Blessed are You, Yahuwah, our Elohim (God), King of the universe,
Who has sanctified us with your commandments and has instructed
us to hear the shofar.

Baruch ata Yahuwah Eloheinu melech ha-olam, asher kidishanu
bemitzvotav vetzivanu lazman hazeh.

Blessed are You, Yahuweh, our Elohim (God), King of the universe,
who has kept us alive, sustained us, and brought us to this season.

The Sounds of the Shofar
There are four different sounds associated with the blowing of the
shofar during the Yom Teruah service. These sounds are
interpreted as follows:

1. TEKIAH - A pure unbroken sound that calls man to search his
heart, forsake his wrong ways, and seek forgiveness through
repentance. The tekiah called the people to attention and to gather
unto Moses. It is the calling note, calling your attention and holding
you. It would be in general the summons to listen to God, to receive
from Him the orders for the day.

2. SHEBARIM - A broken, staccato, trembling sound. It typifies the
sorrow that comes to man when he realizes his misconduct and
desires to change his ways. It sounds like a man moaning in
repentance.

3. TERUAH - A wave-like sound of alarm calling upon man to stand
by the banner of God. Teruah in Hebrew means not only a certain
unique sound. It also connotes "to break", denoting breaking
something and/or causing damage. It is the note for bustling,
speedy activity, the signal for breaking up, for striking tents and
breaking up camp.

4. TEKIAH GEDOLAH - The prolonged, unbroken sound typifying a
final appeal to sincere repentance and atonement.
The Shofar blowing on Yom Teruah is a combination of the various
sounds. The Tekiah is sounded first to call man's heart to give
attention and hear the following 'sound' of the Shofar message. It is
then followed by the Teruah which would then give His order to
break off and away from every attachment that estranges us from
God, and from our own purposes and present mode of life which is
displeasing to God, and leave behind every worthless activity. The
broken sound reminds us that we have a job of "breaking" to do as
well - the breaking of our evil inclination.

The Shevarim 'speaks' for the heart of man initiating the call to
repentance and godly sorrow of heart.

The tekiah which then follows, calls one to a new standpoint, a new
attitude, of faithfully following God's way of life.

It is to rally us to come to a new place in Yahuwah Elohim (God).
The repetition of these sounds is for the purpose of penetrating
deep into the recesses of man's being to bring a complete change
of heart and complete reconciliation with our heavenly Father.
These four sounds form a set, called a Tekiyot of shofar blasts. In
the sounding of the Shofar the Tekiah is 1 blast, the Shevarim is 3
wavering continuous blasts, and the Teruah is 9 staccato blasts.
Now is the season of preparation as we once again rehearse for
these prophetic events that are soon going to happen. Please tune
in this Sunday Night to learn more about Yom Teruah, the Day that
No Man Knows!

Shalom in Yahushua,
